In our area of the state -- the snow started on Wednesday afternoon. I woke up on Thursday and decided to take a snowday. Yippee! So, what are some of the things you do when you're "stuck" at home?
You can really take advantage of a day off and feel refreshed and rejuvenated by the time you return to work. Or, you may be on the other end of that equation where taking a snowday may wind up making you feel worse when you get back. Taking that day off will compound your situation -- but you're in good company. If most of your co-workers took off too -- then you're all in similar circumstances.
If you've got kids -- snowdays mean they're at home with you. That can make for a great day spending time with your children. You can bake some cookies, play games, go outside with them all bundled up and play in the snow.
You can clean house, do laundry, iron, clean the bathroom, wash the kitchen floors, dust, or just straighten up. The cleaning project you've been putting off -- a snowday might be just the ticket to get you motivated.
You can snuggle up in your favorite chair or on the couch, with a warm throw or blanket. Prepare some hot chocolate or a nice cup of hot tea. Now's a good time to crack the cover on that book you haven't had a chance to read. Sometimes just a relaxing reading day can rejuvenate you.
You can watch TV all day long -- play video games -- learn how to operate your new Wii -- or have a movie marathon. Make some popcorn!
Bake a cake, make a pie, make some chili, baked macaroni and cheese, or homemade soup. Go for the comfort foods!
Bundle up and shovel some of that snow. You can clean the sidewalks, porch, and steps. Clean off the car and begin defrosting. Don't forget your ice scraper and thaw your car out so you can return to to work tomorrow!
If you're "stuck" at home on a snowday -- you probably have plenty to do, but take some time to enjoy yourself. Snowdays don't come along often!
